Description

Originally cultivated in Tuscany – there are references to them dating back to the Middle Ages! – nowadays the Leccino olives are amongst the most cultivated in Italy, due to their delicate flavour, but tasty at the same time.

The Leccino olive tree is a widespread tree with a dense foliage similar to the weeping willow, which can reach large dimensions. The fruits are harvested between October and November and then, after washing, are stored in brine according to the traditional recipe, so as to preserve all the organoleptic properties that they contain. This type of olive does not have extremely long ripening lengths given their medium-to-small size and an elliptical and quite irregular shape, and have a peculiar colour, somewhere between a dark green and purple hue.

They are particularly suitable for being marinated, due to their delicate taste and their reduced dimensions.

Excellent for flavouring meat and fish dishes or in sauces, Leccino black olives are delicious even eaten just natural, as an aperitif or with cocktails – try them on top of a warm crusty bruschetta!
